Performs both administrative and instructional duties. As an administrator, the PD supports the College mission and vision by overseeing the day-to-day management of the Early Childhood Program. The PD is responsible for coaching and mentoring instructors within the Early Childhood Program as related to classroom methodology and delivery. In conjunction with the Dean of Arts, Science, and Business, the PD will serve as moderator with regards to student-instructor disputes, including grade challenges. The PD is also responsible for providing guidance to the subject-area instructors and for ensuring that all required record keeping and reporting are completed in a timely and accurate manner. As instructor, the PD follows the position description for a Faculty Instructor.
Serve as academic leader of the Early Childhood Education Program and maintain NAEYC accreditation.
Manage the hiring, development, evaluation, and termination of subject-area instructors under the direct supervision of the Dean of Arts, Sciences and Business, to include adjunct faculty, staff, work study students, and dual enrollment instructors.
Assist the Dean of Arts, Science, and Business in on-going faculty development and faculty development planning and delivery.
Adhere to, uphold, and comply with all established operational policies and procedures.
Pursue opportunities for professional growth including participating and presenting at in-services.
Provide instruction with a focus on teaching and learning to help assure students in each class successfully meet all course outcomes and classroom retention objectives.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Arts, Science, and Business, including developing and maintaining partnerships with transfer universities and colleges.
Coordinate with the childcare center on staffing and programming.
Work with the childcare center constituents to become a NAEYC accredited facility.
Build and maintain relationships with local childcare providers, early education programs and community partners.
Serve on college committees and participate in ongoing professional development offerings.
KSA's/Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Development, Early Childhood Studies, Early Childhood Leadership, or Child Care.
At least 2 years' experience working in a related field is required.
